Are you passionate about building vibrant communities of like-minded peoples, such as Young Adults, Seniors, Singles, and Couples? Are you excited by the vision and prospects of planning and facilitating environments in which people are seen, known, and loved, and afforded opportunities to experience the freedom to be themselves and connect meaningfully with others and Jesus? As a Groups Coordinator (this position may be licensed as a pastor depending on ministry experience), you will partner with us in demonstrating the transformative power of biblical community and radiate God's love to both our members and the watching world.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Maintain and Grow Healthy Communities

  • Pray consistently for God’s guidance over the communities, for the health of the individuals and overall community, and for opportunities to connect people to places of belonging.
  • Provide oversight to community core teams through regular communication, encouragement, strategic thinking, and spiritual care.
  • Monitor the spiritual health of the community.
  • Work with the community core team to implement effective strategies to observe, measure and grow the relational health of communities.
  • Build a curriculum library for affinities of groups by researching new curriculum, staying abreast of best practices within small group ministries at other churches, and working with Spiritual Growth team.

Develop Strong Volunteer Leaders

  • Recruit, build, and develop an effective and healthy core leader team for each community by recruiting, developing, and empowering them for their ministry.
  • Ensure that volunteer core leaders receive the training and care necessary to support and lead healthy communities.
  • Provide spiritual care to core leader teams through team gatherings, one-to-one connections, and soul care opportunities (led by Groups Team or Spiritual Growth team).
  • Equip and shepherd core leaders to care for other volunteers while building a sense of community within the team.

Develop and Execute Groups Mid-Size Events and On Campus Group Experiences

  • Plan and execute mid-size affinity connection gatherings to help people find community/group with like-minded individuals.
  • Provide project management and execution of community experiences.
  • Build a team of volunteers to lead and support these events and experiences.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the Lake Forest campus to leverage activities already happening where adults are gathering to encourage participation in small groups.

Shepherd the Flock

  • Care for the congregation by providing prayer, hospital visits, performing baptisms, weddings, funerals, and serve as Minister of the Day (if hired to the position of Director depending on ministry experience)
  • Be a pastoral presence at weekend services and special events.
  • Engage new people by meeting them, discovering their stories, making connections, and looking for ways to guide them into taking the next step in their spiritual journey.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Leader - a servant by example. Able to mobilize volunteers and staff. Understands strategy and the spirit in which we execute such strategy at Saddleback. Able to engage with large groups of attendees and members very quickly, relating to each individually while extending care and love.
  • Connector – a person who loves to see others get connected. Able to make connections between groups of people.
  • Planner / Implementer - an ability to plan and implement large projects and ministry events. Able to handle details without losing perspective and collaborate with a team to accomplish objectives.
  • Builder - an ability to lead, develop, equip, and empower teams of volunteers for ministry. Able to see the value in volunteers and multiply volunteers constantly.
  • Implementer - must be equally comfortable maintaining existing systems and ministries as well as developing/growing new ones.
  • Compelling Communicator – able to connect one-on-one or in front of hundred, exuding love with relaxed energy.  Able to cast vision and inspire volunteers into action.  
  • Previous pastoral and/or customer relationship management experienced desired (experience with leading a small group ministry a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree is required (seminary degree is preferred)
  • Weekend and evening work required.

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity, along with budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. Starting pay for this position is expected to be $25-28 per hour. A wage posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage for a job offer.
