The full-time Engagement Director (this position would be hired as the Engagement Pastor depending on ministry experience) oversees the vision and strategy of the weekend experience at Saddleback Church's Irvine North campus. The individual in this Engagement role holds the standard of the Saddleback weekend experience from streets to seats. The Engagement Director/Pastor also assists in helping people take their next faith steps with new believer opportunities, baptisms, and Explore Saddleback events.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Lead and coordinate weekend “First Impression” ministry teams in support of campus church services and events

  • Be the "voice" of the campus
  • Build leaders and teams in support of campus church services and events
  • Develop people to handle ministry responsibilities for the church while also helping people cross the line of faith and build a deep relationship with Christ
  • Participate in campus team staff meetings and Saddleback all-staff meetings

Leadership recruitment and oversight of ministry leaders, volunteers, and teams

  • Recruit and meet with people to find the right team for them
  • Meet with leaders to help them learn and leverage campus systems for ministry impact
  • Empower, coach, and support leaders to achieve ministry goals

Event Coordination and Leadership

  • Assist the Campus Pastor and/or campus staff and partner with volunteers to execute all campus events
  • Plan and execute logistics for effective on-campus and off-campus regular/special events

Develop Property/Campus Systems

  • Oversee all property logistics and maintenance
  • Recruit and lead volunteers for on-campus grounds-keeping, repairs, and maintenance
  • Coordinate all janitorial services, vendor activities, and volunteer opportunities
  • Manage inventory and supply logistics for campus property and church “First Impression” ministries
  • Handle all requests and receipting for repairs of facilities, vehicles, and equipment

Oversee and Lead People to Their Next Faith Steps

  • Ensure the availability and impact of Fresh Start (new believer’s kits) at the Connection Center
  • Lead the Baptism team and optimize the whole experience
  • Promote and manage the Explore Saddleback program to help newcomers get involved in our church

WHO YOU ARE

  • Experienced in event planning, project management, systems development, and administration
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with an ability to recruit, lead and motivate volunteers and manage teams
  • Able to lead teams using leadership gifts, discernment skills, and creativity
  • Able to teach in some capacity, communicate core truths of scripture, and encourage others to move to new places (serving, connecting)
  • Proficient with basic computer skills: e-mail, Word, Excel, social media, etc.
  • High School/GED equivalent degree (required), Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience (preferred), Seminary degree (helpful)

WHAT WE OFFER

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity, along with budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. Starting pay for this position is expected to be $67,000 per year.  A wage posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage for a job offer.
